HI folks!

I'm new to this forum, and hope someone can help me out.

I have a Chambers wall oven, Serial number IW8309. The pilot light does not work, nor does the timer. The thermostat is also off about 50 degrees or so. I can still cook with it, I just have to light it with a long lighter.

I also have a Chambers cooktop, serial number 24--4GC--12, that the pilot lights light, but do not transfer to the burners, so these too have to be lit with a match or lighter.

Where can I find replacement parts for these units. I live in Houston, and all the appliance people I have called have just about laughed when I asked them about parts.

I love the way these two units cook, not to mention the decor issues in the antique kitchen, so I can't bear the thought of having to replace them.

Any help would be appreciated!

Sorry I can't answer your questions. But, welcome to the board! There are lots of enthusiastic and knowledgeable people on here, so hopefully all your questions will be answered.

I just got off the phone with a friend here in Houston that has been in the commercial food service repair business for 20 years or so, and he said that Chambers used mainly commercial parts and techniques and many parts cna be found or duplicated by some of the places here in Houston. (I can't believe I did'nt think of him before...)

He's coming out tomorrow to see what we can do. I'll keep ya'll posted and maybe, just maybe, we'll be able to come up with some functional alternatives that we all can use!

There used to be a Macy's Texas Stove Works, 5515 Almeda Road. Houston 77004 (713-521-0934) probably expensive, handled a lot of Chambers stuff, may not be in business anymore...V

A friend of mine is was related to Macy and told me she has passed away. He doesn't care too much for those who took over her business...

Well, we took a trip to their "warehouse" yesterday. The two ladies that work there (the younger of the two said she's 81!) were very nice and as helpful as they could be. I found the pilot tubes that I needed (YAY, our cooktop works fine now!), but they said they had much more stuff in their other warehouse. It is accesible only by the owners, though, and I fear the owners may be the ones your friend doesn't care for. They don't sound very friendly.

I'm going to take a picture of the thermostat/gas valve on our oven and send it to them so they can see if they have one in stock. I'll also be ordering the cookbook and manuals from the convention site in the near future.

Hey, Soldador - make sure you also get a price from Stoveman on that thermostat. I'd be very surprised if anyone can beat his price and quality.
